Existence of a line
(A part of my work in progress)
The simplicity of mere existence, a simple presence of a line in a space, a random stroke of color…
As random as the flow of water, every free-
floating atom in the air, the presence of every particle of dust…all of it combines to present a larger-than-life persona of the earth. And how does it matter if a particle exists or
not in the larger picture? but I think every particle is given a chance to
carry certain energies and be a part of the greater flow…just to be a part of
the flow and enjoy mere existence.
As per the human mind, it is conditioned to find ‘meaning’ in everything in
order to feed the mind that does not really exist but is a made-up thing that
gives a certain satisfaction to a man’s ego who needs some intellectual
stimulation in order to feel superficially empowered and in control of
everything that goes around. The only point I am trying to make is, what if
instead of judging or ‘figuring out’ one may try to assume the position of an
observer. Many people I meet would ask me what does a certain artwork I made,
mean? However, I would say to connect, to observe, and to enjoy is an innate
quality that is very essential for anyone to enjoy a work of art and life and
nature as a work of art as well.
Many times artists have an abstract mind, that is the
reason why they have a perspective that might be different from most of the
people. A painting may or may not tell a story…or if it must tell a story, it
might be a wordless one. And I think a wordless work of art offers many
possibilities in all the directions to be absorbed and reflected again and again.
But for no reason, an element exists without a purpose in an artwork. As per a
line or a stroke of color- may just be sufficient to complete the picture…
